Glock 19X and 45 Holster Fit: The Full-Grip, Compact-Slide Glocks

By Badass Holster Co. · November 4, 2026 · Veteran-owned gear guides

The 19X and the 45 are the mashup Glocks: a 17-length grip on a 19-length slide. That combination is excellent to shoot and awkward to holster, because it breaks the assumption that Glock holsters are interchangeable.

What actually changed

Glock 454.02"Full (17-length)Compact dust cover
Glock 19X4.02"Full (17-length)Compact dust cover, lanyard loop

The slide is identical to a 19. The grip is identical to a 17. In a holster, that means the body should be sized like a 19 but the retention and belt clearance must accommodate a taller grip.

Where the fit goes wrong

Fit test: holster the pistol unloaded, then sit down, bend forward, and twist. If the grip pushes the holster body away from your body or the beavertail area digs in, the holster is too short for the 19X/45 frame.

Concealment strategy for a full grip on a short slide

The grip is your print. Everything else is management.

19X MOS and optic cuts

Many 45 and 19X pistols are MOS. If you run a dot, the holster needs an optic cut. MOS plates vary in height, so verify the cut clears the plate and optic combination you actually use — not just the slide.

Should you buy a 19X/45 holster or use a 19 holster?

Try your 19 holster first if you have one, and check the three things above. If it holds firmly with the pistol upside down and you have no interference with the lanyard loop or beavertail, use it. If the grip makes the whole rig unstable, buy a body designed for the full-grip frame.

Common questions

Will a Glock 19 holster fit a Glock 45 or 19X?

Often the slide fits, but the full-length grip changes concealment and sometimes causes interference at the beavertail and lanyard loop. Test retention and comfort before relying on it.

What is the difference between a Glock 45 and a 19X?

Both are a 19 slide on a full-length grip. The 19X has a coyote finish, night sights, and a lanyard loop; the 45 is closer to standard Glock finishes and sights.

Is a Glock 45 harder to conceal than a 19?

Yes. Same slide, taller grip. The grip is the part that prints, so a 19X or 45 hides less easily than a 19 in the same clothing.

Does a 19X need a special holster for the lanyard loop?

Verify the holster clears it. A tightly molded holster or tall sweat guard can interfere with the loop and cause inconsistent seating.

Can I put a red dot on a Glock 45?

Yes. MOS models are optic-ready. The holster needs an optic cut that clears both the MOS plate and the optic.
