Best Holster for a Glock 48: A Slim Slide That Needs a Longer Holster

By Badass Holster Co. · November 4, 2026 · Veteran-owned gear guides

The Glock 48 is the odd one in the slim Glock family: a full three-finger grip with a 4.17-inch slim slide. That extra slide length is an advantage in a holster, not just a ballistic one — a longer body stabilizes better against your hip.

What the 48 actually is

Take the 43X grip and put a Glock 19-length, single-stack-width slide on it. The result is roughly 1.02 inches wide, with a full grip that fits all three fingers and a slide that reaches nearly four and a quarter inches.

Practically, that means the 48 carries like a slim 19 rather than a tall 43. The longer holster body gives more surface against your belt, which reduces wobble, keeps the gun from rotating, and hides the slide outline better through a shirt.

What to look for

1. A body that covers the whole slide

Because the 48's slide is long and thin, a holster that stops short leaves a narrow protrusion sticking out below the belt line. Full muzzle coverage is both a safety and a concealment feature here.

2. Stability without bulk

The trade with a longer gun is more leverage on the belt. You want a holster with a wide attachment footprint — dual clips or a single wide clip set wide apart — rather than a narrow single point. That keeps a 4.17-inch slide from levering out and printing.

3. Ride height set lower than a 43X

The 48's grip is the same height as the 43X, but with more slide below. Setting the holster one notch lower buys back concealment, and the extra slide length means you can do it without losing your draw grip.

4. Retention you can feel

A light single-stack slide on a long body can feel loose if the retention mechanism only grips the front of the trigger guard. Test retention with the gun upside down and shaken. Adjust the screw until the gun releases cleanly and holds firmly.

Glock 194.02"Full three-fingerMore capacity, wider

Compared with the 43X, the 48 trades nothing in the grip and gains sight radius, muzzle velocity, and holster stability. Compared with the 19, it loses five rounds and gains nearly half an inch of thinness.

Who the 48 is for

One gun, two slides: the 43X and 48 slides are interchangeable. If you own both, a holster for the 48 will also hold the 43X — just with extra empty body below the muzzle. Take the fit seriously; a slide sitting loose in a longer holster moves.

Common questions

Is the Glock 48 good for concealed carry?

Yes. It is a slim single stack with a full grip, roughly 1.02 inches wide. The longer slide hides better than its length suggests because the holster body stabilizes against your belt.

Are Glock 43X and 48 holsters interchangeable?

No, not safely. The 48 slide is about 0.76 inches longer. A 43X will not fill a 48 holster, and a 48 will not seat in a 43X holster.

Does the Glock 48 fit Glock 19 holsters?

No. Different slide length and a much thinner cross-section. The 48 will rattle in a 19 holster and the retention will not engage properly.

What is the best carry position for a Glock 48?

Strong-side 3–4 o'clock with a forward cant. The longer slide makes appendix less comfortable when seated, though some shooters carry it AIWB with a wedge.

Does the Glock 48 accept a weapon light?

Only with a light-bearing holster cut for that specific light. Slim single stacks have very limited light options, so verify the light-to-holster pairing before buying.
