Best Holster for a Beretta PX4 Storm: Rotating Barrel, Real Fit Problems

By Badass Holster Co. · November 4, 2026 · Veteran-owned gear guides

The PX4 Storm uses a rotating barrel that makes it shoot softer than its size suggests. That same system changes the frame geometry, which is why generic holsters are a bad bet for this pistol.

Three sizes, three holsters

ModelBarrelClassCarry verdict
PX4 SubCompact~3"SubcompactMost concealable
PX4 Compact~3.2"CompactBest carry option
PX4 Full Size~4"FullOWB, cold weather, home defense

The Compact has a shorter grip than the Full Size and is the practical concealed carry choice. The SubCompact has a different slide and frame again.

What makes the PX4 different

1. The rotating barrel and slide profile

The rotation happens inside the slide, so the outside geometry is a fairly conventional slide — but the dust cover and frame rails are distinctive. A holster molded for a 92 series Beretta or a generic "medium auto" will not retain a PX4 correctly.

2. Safety and decocker levers

Most PX4s are F or G configuration — decocker with or without a manual safety. Those levers sit on the slide, which is exactly where a holster's sweat guard and slide channel run. Verify the holster clears the levers and does not actuate them.

3. Trigger guard geometry

The PX4's trigger guard is larger and squarer than most pistols. Complete coverage is required, and the holster needs to be molded to this guard rather than a universal shape.

4. Weight and belt

The PX4 Compact with 15 rounds is a dense package. It has a polymer frame but a steel barrel and rotating system, and it feels heavier in the hand than its listed weight implies. Use a real gun belt.

Carrying the PX4 Compact

Strong-side at 3–4 o'clock with a 15-degree forward cant is the natural setup. Appendix works but is less forgiving than on a modern micro-compact — the PX4 is thicker through the slide than a P-10 C or a Glock 19.

The double-action first trigger pull on F models gives some carriers comfort for appendix carry. That is a legitimate reason to prefer the F configuration over the G if you carry AIWB, but the holster still has to fully cover the trigger guard.

Configuration check: before ordering, confirm whether your PX4 is F, G, C, or D configuration. Lever shape varies, and the holster has to clear whichever levers your pistol actually has.

What to look for

Common questions

Will a Beretta 92 holster fit a PX4 Storm?

No. The PX4 has a distinct frame, dust cover, and trigger guard, plus slide-mounted levers. It needs a PX4-specific holster.

Will a PX4 Compact holster fit a Full Size?

No. Different slide lengths and grip heights. They are separate holsters.

Does the PX4 safety or decocker interfere with holsters?

It can. Slide-mounted levers sit where a sweat guard or slide channel runs. Verify the holster clears the levers and does not actuate them.

Is the PX4 Storm good for concealed carry?

The Compact and SubCompact models are workable, especially for people who prefer a double-action first pull. The Full Size is better suited to outside-the-waistband carry.

Can I carry a PX4 with a red dot?

Only if the slide is cut for an optic and the holster has optic relief. Most factory PX4s are not optic-ready, so this usually requires custom slide work first.
