Best Holster for a SIG P365 XL: Longer Slide, Same Concealability

By Badass Holster Co. · November 4, 2026 · Veteran-owned gear guides

The P365 XL is the answer to "I want the P365 to actually shoot." It adds slide length and grip without giving up much concealment. In a holster, the extra slide is an asset, not a problem.

What the XL brings

A 3.7-inch barrel, a 12-round flush magazine, and roughly 6.6 inches of overall length. It is about half an inch longer than the standard P365 with a significantly better grip for most hands.

In carry terms, that half inch of slide disappears below the belt line. The grip is what people see, and the XL grip height is closer to the standard P365 than its length suggests.

What to look for

1. 3.7-inch slide specificity

A standard P365 holster will not accept the XL slide. The muzzle protrudes and retention is off. This is the most common XL buying mistake.

2. Optic cut for the factory footprint

Most XLs are optic-ready from the factory. The slide cut must be relieved properly so the optic hood clears the holster body and does not shift zero through repeated draws.

3. Full muzzle coverage

Because the XL is longer than the standard P365, a holster built for the shorter gun leaves the muzzle hanging out below the belt — visible in looser clothing and exposed to lint and debris.

4. Stable attachment

The XL's added slide length gives the holster leverage against the belt. Clips set wider apart or a dual-clip design keeps the gun from levering out, especially in appendix carry.

XL vs standard P365 vs X-Macro

ModelBarrelCapacityConcealment
P365 XL3.7"12+1Very good
P3653.1"10+1Exceptional
P365 X-Macro3.1"17+1Good — wider grip
P365 Fuse4.3"17+1Fair — full-size grip

None of these are interchangeable in a holster.

The keel effect and why the XL carries well

The section of holster below the belt acts as a keel — it stops the grip end from tipping outward. The XL's extra slide length gives you more keel in the same holster footprint, which is why many people find the XL conceals better relative to its size than the standard P365 does.

Practical tip: if you are choosing between a P365 and a P365 XL for appendix carry, the XL is often the better call. The longer slide keeps the grip pressed in, and the extra grip length makes the draw far more repeatable.

Common questions

Will a standard P365 holster fit the P365 XL?

No. The XL slide is about 0.6 inches longer, so it will not seat and the muzzle will protrude. You need an XL-specific holster.

Is the P365 XL still easy to conceal?

Yes. The extra length sits below the belt line and the grip height is close to the standard P365, so most carriers see little difference — some find it conceals better because of the longer holster keel.

Does the P365 XL fit a P365 X-Macro holster?

No. The X-Macro has a wider grip module. Different holster entirely.

Can I run a red dot on a P365 XL?

Yes. Most XLs are optic-ready. Use an optic-cut holster that clears the housing without contact.

What is the best carry position for a P365 XL?

Appendix is very popular because the longer slide keeps the grip tucked. Strong-side 3–4 o'clock with a slight forward cant also works well.
